The Trial of Cain and Abel

Sunday, November 17th, 2013

Minyan starts at 8:30 followed by Breakfast & Lectures

At 9:30 – 11:30 AM at the Social Hall

The Trial of Cain and Abel:

Perspectives on Capital Punishment:

Few public policy issues have inflamed passions as consistently and as strongly as the debate over capital punishment. Religious communities have been deeply involved on both sides of the issue, drawing on teachings and traditions that define justice and the dignity of human life. The debate over the death penalty has been complicated in recent years by such concerns as the fairness of the criminal justice system, the role of doctors in carrying out executions, and the possibility of reform and rehabilitation among death row inmates.

This class will examine the nature of justice both with respect to God and with man.
  • Dr. Julio Armenta,
  • Steven Goldenkrantz and
  • Rabbi Michael Leo Samuel
  • Dr. David Strom

We will focus on the ethical problems pertaining to capital punishment and its practical implementation according to Jewish and Civil Law.

The cost: $10.00 for breakfast and lectures.
